Research shows that a majority of young teens report having bullied someone or have been bullied. Many do both. Few know how to handle it. Parents need to be actively involved in helping their children recognize and cope with bullying, whether subtle or overt, whether the bully or the victim. The most important message parents can communicate is that bullying is wrong and will not be tolerated in any form.

Program helps parents realize that young teens have a difficult time understanding how taunting and put-downs can hurt others deeply. Parents learn to recognize the warning signs that their child is being bullied before the situation gets out of hand, and what they can do about it. They learn to identify bullying behaviors in their own children, and to recognize the more subtle, but still hurtful forms of bullying such as ostracism. Includes effective strategies for communicating expectations, empowering kids to resist bullying, and dealing with cyberbullying.
