In March, 1997, Barb Anderson helped her 69-year-old brother John Crofts board a bus to Toronto from Peterborough, Ontario. She would never see him again. 4 senior citizens, homeless and alone in the world, disappeared without a trace in Huntsville cottage country. The Laan family ran 2 private Cristian retirement homes nearby, where 3 missing men were residents and where Joan Lawrence, the local “cat lady” rented a shelter. When Joan went missing, locals called police for help. Laan family members were charged with embezzlement, but the missing people were never located.  For the first time in their nine-year investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police tell W5 what they think happened.
