On the wild Northern edge of the Atlantic Ocean lies a land of rock, ice and water.  This is a place of towering seas, rivers of ice and ferocious storms.  To raise your family here seems impossible; with the odds stacked so heavily against you that even surviving seems a feat of endurance.

But special clans of animals do survive here and survive in style.  They’re Otters, Arctic Foxes, Grey Seals, Reindeer, Puffins and Orca.  Against this wild and romantic background, they must work to make homes, find mates and raise their special youngsters – these are the STORMBORN.

The Stormborn trilogy features three countries – Iceland, Scotland and Norway. United in the Sub-Arctic by dramatic coastlines, towering mountains and restless seas – these lands are the stages for the wild drama. Out of the Darkness shows the lands of the North crossing into the threshold of Spring with Winter reluctant to release her icy grip. In Return of the Light the breeding season is in full swing. And in the series finale Children of the Storm we see the lands of the Stormborn advancing into the great darkness of Winter.

In each episode of the trilogy we weave together an intricate web of family drama, building a dramatic narrative with rarely seen behaviour – orca hunting porpoise, a dog otter sparing his son from death because of their bloodline, Arctic foxes leaping to grab kittiwakes in a daring ambush, a testosterone-fuelled grey seal bull brutally murdering a newborn pup.  We also reveal the tender moments of these engaging families as they battle the elements – the otter mother seeking the shoreline for her lost cub, a newly fledged puffling marching to the sea under cover of darkness, the tiny arctic fox pups struggling to thrive despite their parents gallant efforts.

Narrated by Golden Globe® Award winner Ewan McGregor.
