STRANGEL tells the story of EDGAR, a true bachelor, who devoted himself to the compulsive logic of reason and the categorical imperative. His best friend is KANT, a marble bust. EDGAR’s greatest pleasure in life is reading about tragic endings in the newspaper every day. Together with his friend KANT he takes great pleasure in laughing at the strange modes of death of his fellow men.

EDGAR sees bad luck, as something for others. True to his motto: 'Every man forges his own destiny', he thinks, that if someone plunges into disaster, it is just his or her own fault, until… one night he receives a visit from a truly strange angel… the STRANGEL sends EDGAR on an odd path of reformation, full of wonders and strange coincidences, to shake his worldview and let him experience the odd at first hand!

One thing at a time the STRANGEL carefully takes apart EDGAR’s life, until he has nothing more to lose, so it seems… just then he also loses the fight to take his own, by then, miserable life! Mystically he ends up high in the air, holding on to a hot-air balloon, to meet his strange probation angel for a last session.

This animated film is based on the short story THE ANGEL OF THE ODD by EDGAR ALLAN POE.
