A film showing how the Montréal Oral School for the Deaf employs teaching methods that draw children out of the silent world into which they were born and into the world of children who hear, speak and understand without impairment. The objective of "oralism," as the method is known, is to adapt the child at an early age to live and communicate in the world of sound. Audio-visual equipment, modern electronics and specially trained teachers are all part of this successful new approach, which enables children with impaired hearing to be integrated into regular school classes.
