Disaster strikes 3,000 feet in the air. The impact of an emergency landing on frozen tundra kills a member of the plane crew. There is no time to mourn. Daylight is short and weather unpredictable. Survival in this bleak, barren landscape depends on a tight choreography of procedures. The crew evacuate the metal plane for a tent protected with a snow wall. The nex day, they erect an igloo. Plane fuel becomes stove fuel. A crisp, no-nonsense film that emphasizes the techniques, psychology and behaviour necessary for survival in extreme cold.
