This documentary is a study of entrepreneurship--the story of Max Ward, a former bush pilot whose company grew to become one of the major airlines in Canada. Although Wardair had only seven planes, the company controlled a major share of the Canada/Hawaii market and carried a substantial percentage of the Canada/Caribbean, Mexico and Europe-bound traffic. This film focuses on Max Ward's distinctive style of hands-on management--hallway meetings, informal chats with the staff, checks on maintenance and flight preparations, in-flight conversations with vacationing customers. The key element in the Wardair success story was the president's personal touch.
