What became of the children André Melançon filmed in 1977 for the hard-hitting documentary Les vrais perdants? Thirty years on, he meets them again and revives the discussion of competition among children by talking to the adolescents of today with director Dany Croussette. The predominant idea is that passion justifies hard training.

Contrasting past and present, the co-directors reveal how the young talents of 1977 have developed and how mentalities have evolved: today's children speak openly and have real dialogues with their teachers. There's still discipline, but motivation is provided by pleasure and praise. This sensitive film invites us to think about ways of embracing competition so that it remains stimulating without being destructive.
