Deep within galaxies lie wispy, luminous clouds called nebulae. Observed from a great distance, nebulae appear still and calm. Up close, they are as noisy and active as any nursery -- soaked with radiation and beset by fierce winds. Fuelled by gravity and time and exquisite purpose, these nebulae churn out stars, most with their own planets.
