Program describes different forms of stress (acute, episodic and chronic) and explains how important it is for young people to learn effective techniques for coping with stressful situations. Special attention is given to two common complaints among teens: panic attacks and social anxiety. Also highlighted are other types of stress such as test anxiety, parental demands and peer pressure. The physiological and emotional barometers of stress are clearly described, giving viewers a basic understanding of our innate fight-or-flight response. Personal stories of stressful events are shared in sympathetic language to help students understand that many people suffer from stress and that individuals often react to stress in different ways. Students are introduced to Dr. Hans Steiner at Stanford University, whose state-of-the-art stress lab focuses on the study of adolescents and their responses to common stressors. Young viewers will learn that there are easy and effective means to treat stress symptoms, including relaxation techniques, health, diet and certain medications. The program is accompanied by a Teacher's Resource Book of activities to remind students that although stress will always be present in our lives, there are many productive ways to manage it.

Includes Resource Guide.
