The Skeena carves across northwestern BC, and eventually empties into the Pacific Ocean at Prince Rupert. A group of Gitxzan elders gathered for a rare journey down the Skeena, and introduced the rich natural and cultural heritage of their homeland to a group of scientists and conservationists. The landscape is characterized by mountains, glaciers and dense forests. The Skeena is North America's largest undammed river, and still has the abundant natural resources of fish and forest that have drawn people for millennia.
