Canada Strikes Oil is the story of Vern Hunter, reliving his impression of the time Canada struck oil at Leduc in 1947. It begins with a brief look at the history of the oil industry in Canada: Petrolia, the boom of 1914, and the Turner Valley, setting the stage for Leduc. Told by Hunter himself and a narrator, the story follows the moment by moment drama leading up to the discovery, and the impact this discovery had on Alberta and the county as a whole. Canada was transformed into one of the world's major oil producers and exporters. Personal anecdotes and archival images bring to life an important turning point in Canada's economic history.
