Among the time-honoured rites at many institutions of higher learning are the initiation ceremonies that mark the commencement of the college year. This film records some bizarre antics on the campus of one Canadian university, in particular an assault on a greased pole, about twenty feet high, firmly planted in a slough of mud, which freshmen attempt to climb. Off-screen is the voice of the dean extolling the more edifying pursuits of knowledge.
