During the 1940s and early '50s, itinerant projectionists for the NFB travelled throughout Canada, bringing films and discussions to rural communities. Movie Showman incorporates dramatic reconstructions set in northern Alberta with documentary footage and interviews with veterans of the movie circuit to reveal an important period in Canadian film history.
