When Anthony (Toby Sicks) Hooper learned he was Métis at age 21, he did a lot of research into his heritage, and started incorporating Métis symbols, identity, and philosophy into his artwork. This and a native healing centre changed his life, helping him overcome his drug addiction. He wants to pass his traditions and values on to his daughter and he takes her on a leister spear fishing excursion. Suzanne Smoke comes to get a hand poke tattoo to commemorate her work as an activist. Toby reflects on his art philosophy as he packs up his studio, preparing to shift to a mobile one which will let him reach remote communities. His good friend Kara Jade, an Indigenous rap artist, joins them for a birthday feast and we hear her perspective on the need for Indigenous voices in the arts community. Toby sets a great example for youth who may be trying to find their own voice in the world today.
