A young Quechua boy comes of age through a spiritual connection with a sacred river. The Rio Jondachi is a source many things in his life, including fish for his family, a spiritual relationship, and beautiful whitewater.

An award-winning short film that has been remastered to the original vision provides a unique take on Andean mythology and a never seen before glimpse into the whitewater that runs through the Jondachi River in Ecuador

Jondachi is an award-winning film depicting the boy’s rite of passage on the sacred river. It mirrors the Hero’s journey (the call, the quest, the return) familiar to many in the writings of Joseph Campbell). As a rite of passage, there are strong shamanic overtones in the boy’s journey of resilience, traditional hunting customs, and his transition toward young adulthood.

The Quechua people are a living Andean culture found primarily in Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia. The Quechua have their own language and a spirituality that affirms that everything on Earth is alive with sacred Spirit.
