The Saskatchewan Indian Cultural Centre has played an important role in strengthening cultural awareness and in establishing several educational institutions in Saskatchewan. In the early 1970's, the Elders and Chiefs of Saskatchewan established the centre to research and address Indian education. It continues to strive to maintain the cultural identity of five provincial culture: the Saulteaux, Dakota, Assiniboine, Dene and Cree. We also visit the Tsi Ronteriwanonhnha language centre in Kanesatake, Quebec whose doors remain open in the face of serious funding cutbacks.
