Kanahus Manuel is from the Secwepmc Nation (the Land of the Spilling Waters), located in southern British Columbia. It is a vast land base that consists of 180 thousand square kilometers of unceded Secwepmc territory. Kanahus is a world-renowned land defender and founding member of Tiny House Warrior movement.  As a tattoo artist, she is revitalizing ancient tattoo practices that she believes represent thousands of years of her people’s ancient connection to the land.  She is a mother of four Freedom Babies, children raised in the spirit of decolonization and free from the regulations of the Canadian federal and provincial governments. Manuel decided to do this as an indigenous woman to raise questions and the inherent rights of indigenous peoples of Canada.
