Three videos and print curriculum show how acts of discrimination can be turned into positive lessons of affirmation and hope. Viewers are introduced to children who are blazing their own trails by understanding and appreciating what it means to be different. This three-part series, narrated by Susan Sarandon, tells the stories of nine children, each of whom relates a personal story of how they witnessed or were the victim of an act of unkindness because they were perceived to be different. We meet children like Carl, with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Yanili, who describes what it's like coming from a Spanish speaking country and trying to make new friends, and Nicole who poignantly describes her reaction to a hate crime in her town when KKK was spray painted on a neighbor's house. In each case, viewers see how they rose above their painful situations and learned important lessons about tolerance, respect and diversity.
