Bishop is a 10-year-old boy from Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he lives with his family and pug, Coco. He is proud of his Guyanese, Nova Scotian, African and European heritage and loves playing sports – especially basketball and baseball! In his room, he shows us his violin and the award he won for a book he wrote about his great grandfather and activist, Buddy Daye. Like his great grandpa, Bishop is passionate about his community and is an advocate for Black human rights! After, Bishop will bring us to the Black-owned gym where he does circuit and dryland training before taking us on a tour to learn about Black Nova Scotian history with his friends and great aunt. He shows us his favorite mural of Viola Desmond and the street named after his great grandfather! At the Delmore Buddy Daye Learning Institute, Bishop tells us about the African Nova Scotian flag and receives a supportive message from one of his role models.

Sunny’s Quest features first-person stories told by Black children from across the country. Each episode showcases a different child and their unique perspective on their day-to-day hobbies, their talents, and heritage.
