MIXED MEMORIES tells the story of three luminous women of mixed heritage, from Black and Indigenous communities, who are trying to come to terms with their complex identities. Their touching and intimate stories highlight the trials and tribulations of mixed heritage and hold up a mirror to us to contemplate our common humanity. Celeste, child of a Wendat father and a French-Canadian mother, learns about her Indigenous heritage; Clara, uprooted from Haiti, struggles to fit in to a new culture in Quebec; Cassandre lived in a white Montreal neighbourhood where her father was the only black person, and learned about her Black history when they visited her father’s family in Halifax.  

Film is in French with English subtitles and some English with French subtitles.
