Sevryn is an 11-year-old non-binary child from Toronto, Ontario who uses the pronouns they/them. Sevryn and their brother visit a recording studio to learn about recording music, because they love to express themselves through music. From the recording studio, Sevryn heads to the 519 Community center where they love to perform Ballroom! Ballroom comes from LQBTQ2SIA African American and Latino communities. Sevryn participates in the ‘Face’ category and shows off some cool moves alongside her biggest fan and commentator, Father “Twysted” aka Miyake-Mugler. Sevryn also takes a tour through the Oakville Museum, to learn how enslaved Americans came to Canada via the Underground Railroad. Sevryn receives a special message from someone who inspires all their dreams in ballroom culture!
Sunny’s Quest features first-person stories told by Black children from across the country. Each episode showcases a different child and their unique perspective on their day-to-day hobbies, their talents, and heritage.
