Afrosphere is a four episode music documentary series about the history and impact of Afrobeats, the globally recognized West African music genre, through the lens of Woke Studios, an Ottawa-based Afrobeats music collective.

The collective is led by four artists: KAR33M, singer/songwriter, lead creative director and founder of Woke Studios, Banggz, a recording artist and producer, T. Chandy, a recording artist, producer, and sound engineer, and Kenza Cardot, a creative director and model. These passionate creatives take us on a musical journey from concept to live performance as they prepare for a music showcase and community event.

Each episode explores the various stages of music production, beginning with the Woke Studios’ monthly jam sessions that offer a space for connection and community for Ottawa’s diverse musicians, followed by an insight into each of the featured artists’ inspiration and artistic process, then, a studio session where they record the collective’s finale song for their upcoming community event.

Afrosphere is a music documentary series that explores the foundations of Afrobeats, dating back to its creation by Fela Kuti, and how his message of community and authenticity still rings true today, especially for Woke Studios.
