With a stunning range of life zones within its watershed, the 195 kilometre Klinaklini River is a miracle of biodiversity. A low elevation highway connecting interior to coast, the Klinaklini is one of the few rivers in British Columbia that cuts right through the coastal mountains. The Klinaklini River is an intricate mosaic of rich wetlands, arid interior plateau, cool alpine tundra, moderate coastal rainforest, steep river canyons, sprawling estuary and soaring glacial peaks. Towering above the Klinaklini river at an elevation of over 4,000 metres, Mount Waddington is the highest peak in the coastal range of British Columbia. The rich mix of habitats and prolific annual salmon run attracts the highest concentration of grizzly bears in British Columbia to the Klinaklini's estuary.
