Meet the amazing cast of characters from 12 Neighbors, a wonderful series which explores the question: “What does it really mean to love your neighbor?  We begin by exploring the dimensions of poverty, its feelings and causes, and start to ask, “who is my neighbor”? The episode introduces Fr. Gregory Boyle. He points out that one of the main factors of poverty is “sheer dumb luck”. He says, “…some people win the zip code lottery, some people win the parent lottery, or the education lottery, and some don’t win any lottery at all. And it has nothing to do with moral character, smarts, or the ability to work hard. Not all choices are created equal. He also discusses the shame and disgrace of the historic suffering of the poor .
