There is a monster haunting the northern woods of Canada. A giant, ravenous monster with an ice-heart that preys on lonely human beings, chasing away game, and threatening life with cold and starvation.

Accounts from First Nations people say the Windigo’s mouth is no more than a great gaping hole, having gnawed away its own lips in its insatiable hunger. And if it can, it will eat you alive. Is the Windigo merely a myth? But, what are we to make of accounts that people continue to encounter the Windigo even in this modern age? Should we view the Windigo as an artifact of the past, or does the Windigo still survive in the form of rapacious greed and unfettered appetite, that are the hallmarks of this monster?

Unexplained Canada examines the fact, fiction and possible folly of some our nation’s mysteries. Rather than viewing a mystery with total belief or attempting to debunk it, Unexplained Canada presents many perspectives to encourage viewers to draw their own conclusions.

NOTE: This video was originally produced in 2006. The producer has updated graphics and visuals in this newly released 2022 version.
