Stories of the North tells simple Indigenous stories in a fun and positive manner. The series is set in a northern cabin where Mooshum teaches his granddaughters Cree words through traditional stories, merging education with Indigenous language development interactively and authentically. Children will learn Cree words for numbers, colours, families, animals, food, and more! In each episode, Natanis and Sekwan end up learning 10 new words in Cree and a little bit more about their grandfather’s life as a child, as well as Cree culture and language.

Features Dr. Morris Cook (Mooshum) - Board Chair Northern Lights SD#113 and his granddaughters “Natanis” and “Sekwan” (played by Claire Walker and Mya Hoskins-Fiddler).

NOTE: Not available for sale in Saskatchewan.

Finalist – Children’s Category – 2023 Yorkton Film Festival

“Adorable! I love the concept of this show and the execution is excellent! This series for children helps teach Cree through stories told by a Mooshum to a young girl. The series offers audiences insight into the Cree culture, guided by Mooshum, specifically in teaching simple words and phrases. I give Stories of the North 4.5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 5 to 12, plus adults. -  KIDS FIRST – Coalition for Quality Children’s Media
